Foreign Nonprofit Organizations - The Basics

Foreign nonprofit organizations can affect the economies of different countries in both positive and negative ways. In this blog I am going to be looking at the ways foreign countries are effected by foreign nonprofit organizations. I will be referring to the nonprofit organizations as Non Government Organizations also known as NGO’s. These organizations are not financially supported by the government and run completely by unpaid volunteers.  NGO’s are “private organizations that pursue activities to relieve suffering, promote the interests of the poor, protect the environment, provide basic social services, or undertake community development” (World Bank 2001). Most foreign NGO’s strive to provide relief and charity through social welfare and education.
